THE STORY OF US Year 2013 - Girl from the City: “Love, I’ve seen an old farm worker’s house that is for sale in Calitzdorp.” Farm boy: “Ja? En wat wil jy daarmee maak?” (in English: “So???”) GftC: “You know I’m not keen on camping, but if we fix it up to have hot water and a flushing toilet, then that could be my camping.” FB: “Jy bedoel dan is dit jou “glamping”? (In English: “So you want to leave the city for the Klein Karoo and live in Calitzdorp?” GftC: “No! We can go there often for weekends and holidays and relax.” FB: “I’m in!” Year 2019 - GftC: “Love, we must talk…” FB: “Ai, wat nou?” (In English: “Huh?”) GftC: “I want to move to Calitzdorp permanently and open a restaurant and make lovely homemade burgers with homemade buns and patties and pizzas with great toppings on homemade bases and grill A-grade steak and pork belly ribs that will make even the hardiest man come back for more and have super portion sizes of all food on the menu for reasonable prices and make gourmet milkshakes that will be served in an real ostrich egg and I want to have fun in our unique restaurant setting with inside and courtyard seating and whilst I also enjoy the local Calitzdorpers’ friendliness and while doing all of that, welcome all holidaymakers and tourists to join us for a drink in Rout 62’s smallest bar and then even lose their name on our “Lost and Found charity wall” and and I know that I will think of more stuff!” FB: ”Hoe nou?!” (In English: “Huh?”) GftC: “Yes! FB – Gielie Basson. Father of one with expertise in agricultural soil treatment, eating of homemade cooking, entertaining and beer drinking and now glamping.

We are grateful to our team and try to give back as we can. We've got 3 teams of two on duty per day and they're managed by the owners Annalize or Gielie, or by Crystal when the owners are not in. Great teamwork makes our restaurant a success.
