Our Story
Lake Bogoria Spa Resort is set in an acacia grove in the Great Rift Valley, 165 miles north of Nairobi. It’s the only resort in Kenya with a naturally heated spa pool — known as the ‘healing place’ for its therapeutic qualities. Just a five-minute drive away is one of the geological wonders of the world: Lake Bogoria National Reserve. Such is its majesty that when the 19th-century British missionary Bishop James Hannington first spotted the lake he described it as ‘the most beautiful view in Africa’, while others have called it the ‘jewel of the Rift Valley’. Known for its bubbling hot springs and geysers, the lake is home to 135 species of bird, including flamingos and marabou storks, while the wider reserve plays host to an array of wildlife, such as greater kudu antelopes, impalas, Grant’s gazelles, cheetahs and waterbucks. As well as guided birdwatching tours along the Kesubo nature trail, guests can also join day-trip excursions to the Tugen Hills and the Kipsaraman historic site, or embark on boat rides on Lake Baringo. The hotel’s two restaurants serve fresh produce from the on-site organic farm: Bogoria Kudu offers a mix of international and African dishes, while Bogoria Choma Ranch welcomes guests with an open-kitchen atmosphere and dishes up local cuisine alongside cosmopolitan delicacies. Those seeking a more relaxing day can enjoy a massage or swim lengths in the 80ft cold-water pool. There are also plenty of opportunities for burning off excess energy, with activities including indoor games, while children have fun in the playground. On-site conference facilities cater for up to 200 people indoors or 1,000 people outdoors, while the scenic gardens make Lake Bogoria Spa Resort an idyllic wedding and honeymoon hotspot.
