Our Story

Tanganyika Coastal Campsite & Lodge

Tanganyika Coastal Campsite and Lodge It is a common name in Saadani, one can never get lost finding where Tanganyika Coastal Campsite & Lodge is. Founded by Madam Mackey Mbotto, a Tanzania lady who not only carries the name ‘Mama Tanganyika’ but is also the mother of the Lodge. Her brilliance and creativity made her fully involved in the building, landscaping, decor, and every little detail of the Lodge which is in fact one of the pioneer lodges in Saadani. Combining brilliance and creativity Tanganyika Coastal Campsite and Lodge is a lodge of its kind. We go farther from just being a lodge in the bush to being an oasis in the bush. Our services are oriented to make a guest relax and feel in luxury from a day on the safari. Our happy team of staff works to make sure that our guests not only leave the lodge satisfied but delighted. Hence we go the extra mile to care for little details that will make our guests feel at home and most comfortable. That is why Tanganyika Coastal Campsite and Lodge is a family-friendly lodge welcoming families with little children. The reason we are famously known in Saadani is because of our relationship with the village near us. As investors, we made it part of our priority not just to obtain profit from our investment but from it the community surrounding our benefit. That is why we employ both temporary and permanent staff from the village, engage in peaceful interactions as well as buy supplies from the local fishermen, gardeners, poultry farmers, and shop owners. We care for our business as much as we care for Saadani. Coming to Saadani National Park one can never run out of things to do, from game drive inside the Park to boat safari in River Wami, snorkeling in Maziwe Island, forest walk in Zaraninge Forest, and sand bathing on the beach. That is if we have not included watching turtle hatch-lings in breeding seasons, how salt is harvested in salt farms, nor even watching the pink flamingoes of the salt farms, we have not even included beach games and recreational activities. Saadani National Park is bursting with life, all for the explorers. We at Tanganyika Coastal Campsite & Lodge make sure that your stay in Saadani gives you comfort.
