We do Traditional Mayan Chocolate Making. Everyone have a chocolatunity to have raw chocolate bean tasting, and experience hand grinding cooked cacao bean on stone , to be consume as a spicey hot drinking chocolate. Similiar chocolate drinking served centuries by our ancient Mayan.
Our Story
Ajaw established 2014, we here promoting a pinch of our Mayan Culture & Traditional via chocolate making. Its a Ketchi Mayan operated chocolate shop, we've been growing our own organic cacao production in southern Belize all our lives, the best part chocolate have always been part of our society for centuries, cacao bean was used for sacred events, currency, healing and only served for Elites Mayan. Our name AJAW means 'Elites/ Royals', which means visitors will experience and feel royals with us, only elite ancient Maya had. This 60 minutes chocolate experience involves from opening seasonal fresh cacao pod to sundried and cooked cacao bean. Clients participate to hand grind cooked bean by hands on stone to create a 100% pure organic chocolate. This chocolate then served as two hot drinking chocolate with honey and spices. At very end of this 60 minutes everyone will enjoy a sample of dark & milk machine made sample. A process we called, 'tree to bar' traditional making. Sessions Every Hour Monday to Saturdags.
