Our Story
Our Executive Chef, Athinagoras Kostakos, was previously Head Chef at the award-winning ‘Bill and Coo’, a fine-dining restaurant in Mykonos for ten years. In addition, he has worked in several prestigious restaurants as an Executive Chef, including Scorpios (Mykonos), Branco (Mykonos) and Mazi (Notting Hill). Kostakos is Greek royalty, best known in Greece as the winner of Top Chef! The Greek version of the hugely successful American reality TV, in which leading chefs compete against each other in a series of challenges.
"To put your heart and soul in what you are doing", that's the Meraki way. The youngest sister of Roka and Zuma, Meraki has been founded by brothers Peter and Arjun Waney, who have also successfully revamped The Arts Club, Coya and The Shard in London. Meraki Restaurant first opened in 2017 in the heart of Fitzrovia, where our Executive Chef, Athinagoras Kostakos, and the rest of the team have scoured the length and breadth of Greece to bring the most authentic ingredients, like Bottarga from Mesologgi, tomatoes from Santorini and butter from Crete, creating a sharing concept that truly captures the taste of Greece. Meraki Bar has been launched in December 2018, sprawling across two floors. With three distinct areas, the cosy terrace is the ideal spot to enjoy an evening cocktail selected from our highly acclaimed “Greek Gods” menu as the sun goes down over London. The family now includes our Riyadh and Porto Cervo locations, and is getting ready to add Mykonos to the list, to bring the Meraki way all across the Mediterrenean.
