Terran Travels

We are natural explorers both born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Combining our education of the region and nature, we started Terran Travels in 2018, wanting to provide tours that intrigue and excite the explorer in everyone. Taryn is originally from Alaska where she spent her youth hiking, fishing, and camping. Moving to Portland she focused more on urban communities while studying geography and computer mapping. After meeting Marcus at the climbing gym and discovering that he was a guide, she looked to tour guiding to feed her explorer tendencies, wanting to share her love for the region. Marcus grew up in Portland, but left for 15 years, ending in a PhD in forestry. Trying to escape the politics of academia, he returned to Oregon and fell into the wine industry for two years, before becoming a tour guide in 2016 to spend more time outdoors. He has worn many hats in his life, but the most professional have been in the wine industry, ecology/biology, archaeology, and econometrics. He's participated in research in Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, California, North Dakota, and Provence, France. When they're not working, Marcus, Taryn, and Tycho enjoy climbing, hiking, biking, and learning. Tycho also enjoys getting into things he isn't supposed to.
