Stephan Mantler

Guide

Originally from Austria, Stephan learned to ski around the same time he could walk. Since then he has barely missed a chance to play in the mountains and continues to do so after his move to Iceland in 2013. Besides having decades of glacier and snowmobiling experience under his belt, he is also a member of the local Search & Rescue team and keeps his skills sharp with continuous training as a Wilderness First Responder, high-angle and crevasse rescue, and mountain safety.

Laufey Gudmundsdóttir

Owner and Guide

She is a certificated guide with over 20 years of experience in glacier journeys. When guiding she´s is in her element, that is what she does best, amongst being the best mom and grandma. Laufey is born and raised in the realm of Vatnajökull glacier.

Gulli

Owner and Guide

He has over 35 years of experience in snowmobiling and glacier journeys, he is a car mechanic and worked as such when glacier journeys were only his hobby. Now he continues to work as a mechanic for Glacier Journey along with being a guide.

Andrei Boghean

Guide

Andrei is a certificated guide with 10+ years of experience in mountain and glacier journeys. He is adventurous guy and loves being in nature, there is never a dull moment where he is. Andrei also a skiing and snowboard instructor for many years on the ski slope with people of all ages, especially children. He is born and raised in Romania surrounded by a second-longest mountain range in Europe, The Carpathian mountains, now living with his family here in the realm of Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. Andrei is has finished several courses which he continues to keep up to date, to name a few he has Wilderness First Responder and Crevasse Rescue Training.

Kári Þorleifsson

Guide

Kári is born and raised in Iceland but moved to Austria when he was 23 years old. He stayed there for 10 years, working as a river rafting guide, guiding kayak tours on the river Mur in Steiermark, with SUP tours and more. Kári eventually moved back to Iceland and is now working at Glacier Journey as a tour guide and car mechanic. Kári has worked in the industry for almost half his life and is well accustomed to the glaciers and mountains. In addition to that he has finished courses in tourism service, Wilderness First Responder and Crevasse rescue training. Kári enjoys being outside, mountaineering, climbing and motor sports.

Tinna Rut

Office

Tinna Rut is the youngest daughter of Gulli and Laufey. She is 31 years old and is a mother and a wife. She has most of her life lived on a farm and after she moved away from home she bought a house on a farm. She loves the freedom that the countryside offers. She has for the last 10 years worked with disabled people in Höfn. Tinna Rut is working in the office at Glacier Journey - answering emails, taking care of bookings and operating the homepage.
