Activities
The convent of the church of San Francesco, where the B&B is located, is located in the upper part of Cortona, a step away from the main square, a quiet area of great historical interest. It overlooks one of the streets leading to the Basilica of Santa Margherita. From here, going up just a little, you can take very suggestive walks.Of course Cortona is an "uphill" city but this is also its charm! To get to Piazza della Repubblica it takes a few minutes and from there you can easily go to Piazza Signorelli where there is the theater and the Museum of the Etruscan Academy (MAEC) inside Palazzo Casali or the Diocesan museum in front of the Cathedral . You can walk through Via Nazionale with all its typical shops until you reach Piazza Garibaldi where you can enjoy the splendid view of the Val di Chiana and part of Lake Trasimeno. From San Francesco you can also go, going up, to the Basilica of Santa Margherita and the Medici Fortress or to the hermitage of the Cells. These are two beautiful routes but a little more demanding which, if desired, can also be done by car. From Cortona it is also possible to reach many splendid locations in Tuscany and Umbria throughout the day: Florence is 110 km away, Siena and Assisi 70 km, Arezzo and Montepulciano 30 km and many others.
