Our Story

Hjulsjö 103

Welcome to a small family run artisan bakery, coffee roastery, kafé and Friday pizzeria with the wild woods as the closest neighbor. Experience locally sourced food with a story behind each bite and meet the bakers as you chit chat over which of the freshly baked loaves of bread to take home with you. The award winning café is listed both in 360 Eat guide and the Swedish White guide, listing cutting edge café and restaurang experiences with high quality and sustainable ways. Open for lunch (soup of the week), breakfast and Swedish fika thursday, Friday & Saturday year round (as well as Sundays in July), and artisan sourdough pizzas every Friday evening. Märta, owner and founder of Hjulsjö 103 (which is both the name of the business and its adress) describes the bakery as follows: "All year round we fill the bakery with the aroma of freshly baked bread and cardamom. Bread, buns and croissants are cold-leavened on sourdough, kneaded, rolled and shaped by hand. The bread varies over the season according to what comes in from our three nearest mills. We work with different types of land and cultural cereals, all regionally and organically grown. We also grind our wholemeal flour ourselves in our own stone grinder. No additives, other than craftsmanship and time are used." One baker - one chef - two pizzas. Every Friday afternoon, we refurnish the bakery and open up the area's own pizza hook. We make all pizzas on organically grown flour from the region and locally made cheeses. We top one with tomato, another with sour cream. The rest varies over season and availability. The pizzas are baked from 4 pm on Fridays. Sit here? Feel free to arrive a quarter of an hour before and grab a table, buy a local craft beer and eat the pizza straight from the box! Complement with today's selection of snacks and olive oil to dip the pizza edges in.
