Our Story
The Greenwood Museum is well known as the best smalll museum in the country, a must see. Here you will experience the early history of a bustling mining & smelting city. Incorporated in 1897, Greenwood is now Canada's smallest city! A visit to the museum takes you back in time. Learn about a colourful character that was part of the mining excitement, John M. Jarrett-early prospector, at one time ran with Jesse James & the Cole Younger Gang. Greenwood became the first internment camp during WWII for Japanese-Canadians who were forcibly moved off the West Coast of BC. Absorb the tragic history of the people who were required to abandon their properties and sent to this isolated mountainous small town. A gallery in the museum teaches this heart-breaking story of the Japanese-Canadians. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff await your visit and are here to welcome you.
