Mampe Berlin

Founded in 1831 and thus the oldest spirits brand in the capital. A brand as colorful, as quirky, as crazy, as diverse as Berlin with its neighborhoods and squares. In 1831, the secret sanitary councilor Carl Mampe Sr. invented a medicine against the rampant cholera in his pharmacy in Stargard, Pomerania. "Dr. Mampe's Bitter Drops" were the beginning of a success story in the course of which there was hardly a spirit that was not produced and sold under the name "Mampe". The foundation for the trademark was laid in the 1920s. For almost 60 years from those times, Mampe sponsored the Berlin Zoo with two elephants bearing the names of the company founder and called "Carl" and "Mampe. But Mampe was also at home above the clouds. In 1955, for example, Lufthansa discovered the Mampe invention of the "Bottled Cocktail" and commissioned the company to produce the legendary "Lufthansa Cocktail," which was served on board its aircraft for more than 50 years and was also indispensable in any well-tended cocktail bar. Although the company was no longer doing well economically, it gave everything it had to turn things around at the end of the 1970s. In 1978, Mampe became the shirt sponsor of the Berlin soccer club Hertha BSC. At the end of the 1970s, the people responsible at Mampe were also keen on racing. The Mampe-designed Ford Zakspeed Capri successfully competed in the German racing championship and shone with drivers such as Hans Heyer or Klaus Ludwig with numerous victories and podium finishes.
