Free Cerveza attracts solo travelers, couples, and small groups looking for a social hostel experience in a natural setting. Most guests enjoy meeting other travelers, joining activities, and balancing adventure with downtime by the lake.
Guests can swim directly from our private dock, relax in lakeside lounging areas, or use our paddleboards and inner tubes on the lake. Free morning activities include yoga, sunrise SUP, and group hikes. In the evenings, we host social activities like beer pong, trivia, and karaoke. There are also on-site games such as ping-pong, cornhole, and pool. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy food and drinks from our restaurant and bar or relax in the gardens and common areas.
Our Story
Free Cerveza is a social glamping hostel set directly on the shores of Lake Atitlán in Santa Cruz la Laguna. Guests wake up to views of three volcanoes and can swim straight from our private dock or spend the day enjoying the lake with complimentary paddleboards and inner tubes. Our property is designed for both relaxation and connection. Lush gardens, open-air common areas, and lakeside lounging spaces make it easy to unwind, while free daily activities and nightly social events bring guests together. Food and drink are a big part of the experience. Our on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks prepared by local chefs, followed by a nightly three-course family dinner with a full hour of free beer. The bar offers cocktails, beers, smoothies, and daily happy hours. Accommodation options include shared and private glamping tents, cozy casitas, and a lakehouse perched above the water — all with real beds, electricity, and warm blankets. Built with sustainability in mind, Free Cerveza uses recycled materials, LED lighting, and compost toilets to help protect the lake. Located just a 10-minute boat ride from Panajachel, guests can be dropped off directly at our dock, making arrival simple and scenic.
