Inside Industry - BlueScope Visitor Centre

Hear the story of steel that dates back to 1928 and the formation for Australian Iron & Steel (AIS) by the Hoskins family. Or the fascinating history of Port Kembla port that was established in the late 1890’s to facilitate the export of coal from the mines of the Illawarra region. VISION | To connect and engage with communities – by showcasing Illawarra Industry PURPOSE | We are a valued link between industry partners and local communities, by creating awareness and interest through experiences, tours, educational programs and ancillary services. For students, Inside Industry operate a variety of tours that encompass all ages of students (from Kindergarten to Tertiary) – offering an insight into the process, scale, sensory experiences and career opportunities that industry encompasses at Port Kembla. By hosting visitors, both young and old alike, Inside Industry, fulfills its charter to engage with the community and to demonstrate the value of industry to our community, particularly in terms of trade, manufacturing, environmental achievements, cultural, social, history and economics.
