Care elephants. With our family. Local people
Our Story
We are a family run Sanctuary in the Doi Inthanon National Park, around 1 1/2hrs from Chiang Mai, Thailand. We are a sanctuary that has been living alongside our Elephants for many years, as part of our family so their welfare is our priority. Our aim is not just the welfare of the Elephants that live with us, but the conservation of all Elephants which is why we have rescued Elephants and aim to always be able to rescue more, if and where we can. We give them the best possible life we can whilst here at our sanctuary, With no riding or hooks to make them go where they do not want to. All we do to them is love them and look out for their best interests, after all they live for around 60 - 80 years. Letting them live with the freedom to roam and walk around without the restraint of shackles, helping with logging or people riding upon them is what we strive for. Our goal is to let people share in the experience of spending time with these wonderful animals in the surroundings they should be living their days out in. The day with us will start getting picking you up in an air conditioned vehicle around 8:15 / 8:30am from Chiang Mai city then heading to our place in Doi Inthanon National Park. The journey is around 1 1/2 hours but we will take a small stop to grab a drink or use the bathroom then carry on. Once we arrive at our place we will have a short walk of a couple of mins away from the road to get to where we need to be at camp. A small talk about the Elephants and some information, background and names of our pride then we will be off to meet them. Feeding, a walk through the jungle with the pride then back to camp for a lovely lunch cooked by our family. After lunch it's time for everyone to get dirty and give the Elephants a mud bath, which is not only fun but beneficial for the pride in part of their day to day maintenance and upkeep. After the mud its down to the river to wash the Elephants off which involves everyone again to help out and make sure they are nice and clean. The Elephants will then have a nice dust bath which is great to see with them throwing sand, grit and dust over themselves to help protect from the sun. Some even find it easier to just lay in it ! Back to camp for a shower, wash and clean up then head back to your place of pickup with an drop off time of around 5pm .
