Yakumama Amazon Tours

Yakumama was born as an enterprise. My Name is Kevin and I am the Executive Director of Yakumama Amazon Tours. I came to Iquitos from Lima as a tourist trip, but the objective changed when I saw the wonderfulness of the Peruvian Amazon. I only knew the Peruvian jungle and specifically Iquitos from some videos on the internet and comments from friends who had already made the adventure of traveling to that magical city, when they mentioned Iquitos the first thing that came to mind was the famous suri, Amazonian tribes, monkeys and some legends, but something told me it was much more than that. So "seeing is believing", motivated by that desire for adventure, I was encouraged to travel to Iquitos, when the plane was about to arrive I was able to appreciate the thick Amazon along with the meandering Amazon River that left me amazed like a child who is given a candy. When I got out of the plane, the temperature shock was notorious, I could feel that humid climate of the place that, together with that great celestial sky full of majestic clouds, filled my tank with astonishment to the full, and that was only the beginning. Before traveling, a relative recommended a logistics operator to contact me, but between negotiations we could not reach an agreement, it was then that I managed to contact a tour operator that had previously supported some missionaries whom I knew. We got in touch and started the journey. This is how I met Elmer Ruiz, a local tour guide who lived in Belén and had already 8 years of experience in the tourism sector, he told us a little about him and was very kind, that kindness made me think of a way to to be able to help you as a thank you for your great service and it was then that I could see the panorama, that like Elmer many people from low-income areas can get ahead, giving them the opportunity and the necessary push, enhancing their skills, showing them that with God and much Attitude one can overcome natural obstacles, such as not having been able to obtain the education that one would have wanted, or not having been born in a "silver cradle". Many times that attitude, that determination, that vocation to get ahead eclipse any additional difficulty. Understand that the entrepreneur did not come to this world to cry; came to sell handkerchiefs. And that Iquitos is not only for tourists, Iquitos is also for and for its people, during my stay in this warm city I met people who were born here and do not know what I was able to know in almost 3 days, it was a total amazement and I I said to myself; Is it possible to show these people that there is a wonderful world around them? Iquitos has been blessed with a splendid beauty, its fauna, its flora, its geography, its people are what give color and life to this city, share and transmit that experience to others and enjoy doing it while helping to change lives, you enter in what I say boil mode! That was the reason why I decided to undertake this project.
