Our Story

West of England Falconry

Our mission is to protect wild birds of prey and Owls through education, rehabilitation and conservation, to promote a high standard of animal welfare and to preserve the historic art of British Falconry. The health and wellbeing of all of the birds in our care is crucial to us. Free flight is part of their every day routine and we are constantly striving to improve our aviaries and techniques in husbandry and training. We are a licensed Zoo and have been commended for a high standard of animal care by DEFRA (Zoo License 18/01661/ZOO). Founded in 2009 from a quiet cottage back garden in Midford, Bath, we later moved to Newton St Loe in 2017, where we developed and grew our organisation. In 2018 we were granted our Zoo License and also proudly received our first tourism award for Learning Experiences. From 2019 to 2020 we also picked up a further four tourism awards for accessibility, experience of the year, small visitor attraction and international visitor attraction of the year. Today we continue to develop our work in conservation and our facility for our visitors. Come and join us to make some amazing memories!
