Our Story

Cudlee Creek Restaurant, Tavern & Caravan Park

Traditionally the word ‘Cudlee’ is believed to be derived from the Kaurna word ‘Coodla’, which means ‘wild dog or dingo’ and is why we chose to acknowledge it in a small way in our emblem. In recent history the tavern has only been licensed since 1980 but always known as a picnic ground dating back to the early 1900's, which surprisingly a large proportion of South Australians have a fond memory of visiting. In fact legend has it that the Gorge Kiosk kitchen considered it a very bad day for sale if they only cooked one thousand scones! An average day according to the locals was six thousand scones!
